Just Imagine...
A Spring Break Jamaica Vacation

A spring break Jamaica vacation is a perfect respite from midterm exams, lengthy term papers, and all-night study sessions.

It’s also a great time,(sometimes the ONLY time during school months!) for families to get away together, away from the carpool, piano lessons, and career demands. Next year, escape to Jamaica and the island’s pristine beaches, host of activities, and lush, tropical forests. Jamaica has sports, history, music, and fun. Make your next spring break Jamaica vacation a “no problem mon”.

Negril - Relaxed and Carefree

Negril’s uncrowded, seven-mile, white sand beach along Jamaica’s western shore is a natural for students on a spring break Jamaica vacation. The relaxed atmosphere, varied watersports, and affordable beachfront accommodations are attractive to student budget and lifestyle.

There’s no dressing up in Negril. Dinner attire is a pair of cutoffs and a tee shirt. The food is simply grilled fare, often seasoned with the house variety of jerk seasoning.

Accommodations tend to be simpler and more affordable in this area, and many units sit right on the beach.

Montego Bay – for Families and Friends

Montego Bay, on Jamaica’s northwest shore, is the quintessential family spring break vacation destination. It’s glamorous, easy to reach, offers lots of activities, and features spectacular white sand beaches.

Large resorts dot the beaches here and visitors can enjoy windsurfing, deep-sea fishing, and excellent golf as well as scenic diving and snorkeling.

Resorts tend to specialize, and some hostelries cater to couples, such as the Sandals resort, whereas others cater to families, such as the Trelawny Resort and the Holiday Inn Sunspree. History lovers will want to visit the several restored former plantation great houses in this area, gracious reminders of a past era.

Kingston – Explore Jamaica’s Heritage

Kingston, on Jamaica’s southeastern shore, is not your typical spring break Jamaica vacation destination. Although it does have several popular beaches, such as Fort Clarence Beach and Hellshire Beach, the area is known more for its history and culture.

Kingston and the surrounding area are home to the ruined pirate port city of Port Royal, leveled by an earthquake in 1692. This former haunt of Captain Morgan, among others, can be reached via a short boat ride from Kingston.

Also, just outside of Kingston is Spanish Town, the original European settlement on Jamaica and once the island’s capital. Today, its streets are filled with excellent examples of 18th century Spanish Colonial architecture as well as later Georgian townhouses, reminders of the British Colonial days.

Music lovers will enjoy visiting the Bob Marley Museum, the most-visited site in Kingston. Housed in the former reggae great’s house and recording studio, it is filled with assorted Marley memorabilia and mementos.

Just outside of Kingston lie the lush, tropical Blue Mountains, named for the morning mist that lends a hazy blue tint to the towering landscape. The mountains’ lower elevations are home to numerous small coffee farms, which produce the world-famous Blue Mountain coffee.

Higher in the mountains is the Blue Mountain-John Crow Mountain National Park. This lush and tropical park offers excellent opportunities for hikers of all skill levels as well as climbers and mountain bike enthusiasts. Those wanting to get away from the beach resorts can even stay overnight at one of the picturesque small inns up in the mountains, such as Strawberry Hill and Whitfield Hall.

How to Book a Spring Break Jamaica Vacation

For the best prices and best availability on a spring break Jamaica vacation, book your trip early. Spring break season in Jamaica is second only to Christmastime in popularity. Enlist the aid of a good travel agent who specializes in Caribbean vacations. She/he can sort through the many resorts, offers, and accommodations to find the one that best suits your group of friends or your family. Let her know what kind of resort you are looking for, how much you’d like to spend, and what activities are important to you. She’ll be able to select one or two choices in your price range for you to consider without your becoming overwhelmed with all of the options. A travel agent can also confirm flight arrangements, additional sightseeing tours, and car rentals.

Spring break is a great time for the family to travel together or for a group of friends to escape the northern freezing temperatures.

Jamaica offers visitors friendly people, beautiful white sand beaches, and lots of fun and exciting activities.

Make Jamaica your destination for your next spring break vacation.
