Port Antonio
Jamaica

Port Antonio Jamaica is the capital of the parish of Portland. It is located on the northeastern coast of Jamaica, which is about 100 km from Kingston. Port Antonio is the island's third largest port and it is famous as ashipping point for bananas and coconuts.

Port Antonio Jamaica is one of the more important tourist attractions and contributes a large amount to the islands economy. Port Antonio was a sleepy coastal town untill the 1880’s, after which the banana trade was started here by Lorenzo Dow Baker.

This changed the sleepy town to a favorite port for the wealthy American traders and travelers. In fact, the banana trade became so large that the weekly sailings were larger here than the English port of Liverpool.

There are also water activities like diving into the depths of Blue Lagoon. The caves inside and outside the water are also open for the tourists to explore.
