Ocho Rios Jamaica

Ocho Rios Jamaica is a town located on the northern coast of Jamaica. It is a beautiful place which is located in the parish of Saint Ann. Being one of the most popular destinations, Ocho Rios is a scenic place filled with various kinds of activities

to keep you occupied: well known for scuba diving and other water sports.

Ocho Rios Jamaica was once upon a time considered to be a sleepy fishing village. It was a "late discovery" and since then has become a favorite beach destination of sea-lovers, and widely preferred by some of the big celebrities around the world. Ocho Rios Jamaica now stands second, as a tourism destination in Jamaica. The first position is occupied by Montego Bay. Ocho Rios is also a popular port destination stop for cruise ships.

Things to do in Ocho Rios Jamaica

There are many breath taking views and places to see in and around Ocho Rios. It may be referred to as a town but there is so much to do outside of the town limits.

Ocho Rios, Jamaica is the home of The Dunn's River Falls. The Dunn’s river falls are a popular attraction and are visited by thousands of visitors each year. These falls cascades down a length of about 695 feet into the sea. They are made up of various springs located in the hills above. Visitors can enjoy the exercise of 'climbing' the falls along the hills, with the water rushing around them.

The working plantations and the Bob Marley Mausoleum should not be missed. Apart from this there are various beaches to explore in this wonderful place. All those who are scared of the idea of going below the sea will forget their fears in this strange but wonderful undersea panorama: the unexpected view of Ocho Rios. Try snorkelling or sea diving and experience this quiet, wonderful world.

The popular resorts in this town are The Sans Souci Couples Resort & Spa, Sandals Grande Ocho Ríos, RIU Ocho Ríos, Shaw Park Beach Hotel & Spa, the Jamaica Inn, Royal Plantation and The Blue House Luxury Bed and Breakfast Inn.

There are innumerable hotels and resorts located around Ocho Rios. It is said to be the first town in Jamaica which was specifically developed as a resort. There are various hotels and resorts which not only suit different kinds of budgets but provide great vacation packages and offers.

Ocho Rios Jamaica is considered to be one of the safest tourist spots in Jamaica. Recently the north coast highway has been improved so the drive from the international airport at Montego Bay to Ocho Rios has been cut to about ninety minutes.

Ocho Rios, Jamaica is a lively place with night pubs and clubs for the party people but it also has soothing and calm scenic views for those who prefer to relax.

For the traveler, it would be wise to carry lots of sun tan lotion, to prevent yourself from sunburn, as the most popular activities seem to always include indulging in the "sunlight arts"!
