Jamaica Maps
...history,Parishes and map links!

We have found some Jamaica Maps for you to use. There is a variety, each with it's own particular style and use.

Several of the Jamaica maps you can see on the web-page but more can be found using the links provided. These go to pre-selected Mapquest pages which, when opened can be magnified or whatever.

Unfortunately large areas of Jamaica have not been mapped for Mapquest yet so some of the links, such as the one to Kingston, will provide an overview map but when you try to go closer, and look at the individual streets, some areas are not available! Montego Bay is the same. You can get a close up of most of the streets but as you go West or North-East the areas become blank: not yet mapped.

Don't forget your local Automobile Association when looking for local Jamaica maps. They are often a very good source. The Gas (Petrol!)stations in Jamaica, especially Esso do have some maps and the local Tourist Bureaus will also be able to point you in the right direction. Unfortunately there really isn't a large quantity to choose from.

Start with ours, print them out and blow them up (make them bigger!!) and then go from there.

You might want to print some of these Jamaica Maps if you plan on renting a car, a bike or a motorcycle to explore the island.

The first map is a copy of an old "Parishes" map (Municipality or small civic government area) followed by an extract from that map which numbers, and we shall name for you, all the parishes. Many Towns in Jamaica go by the town name followed by the Parish name, so directions, which include the Parish name always help.

Old Jamaica Parishes Map

Jamaica Maps: The Parishes."

Parishes have been a feature of local administration in Jamaica ever since the island was captured by the English in 1655. Throughout its history, Jamaica has had a number of parishes, some of which no longer exist (having either been absorbed or divided between neighbouring parishes).

At its most in 1865, the current order of parishes was established in 1867 through the elimination of 8 parishes.

Middlesex (Spanish Town) - pink

Jamaica Maps: Showing the Modern Day Parishes

The next Jamaica map, quite a detailed one, shows the central mountains and more of the settlements and roads. [The Blue Mountains are Dark Green!]

Unfortunately this map is normally quite large and therefore cannot be fitted onto our web-pages.....I suggest you print it out and then use a photocopier to double or treble the size. We think it's a great map...I wish we could reproduce it a little larger.

Map of Montego bay, Jamaica.

This is a link to a Mapquest map of Montego Bay. You can manipulate the map by going in closer, or whatever, but much of the outlying areas have not yet been mapped for MapQuest. However, follow the link and you will get a good overview of the area.
