Jamaica Honeymoon
...plan one today!

A Jamaica honeymoon can be a romantic, carefree, and beautiful vacation. The lush, tropical foliage and many white sand beaches make an idyllic setting for starting your life together.

Honeymooners can choose from large mega-resorts with a host of amenities, pre-packaged all-inclusive resorts, and secluded small inns and bed and breakfasts. Adventurous couples can go hiking in the Blue Mountains or try a para-sailing trip high above Negril Beach. Those wanting to be pampered can relax at the Ritz Carlton or Sans Souci spas. This large island has something for every taste.

Jamaica Honeymoon Packages

Most Jamaica hotels and resorts offer special amenities for honeymoon couples. Even if the hotel of your choice doesn’t advertise a special Jamaica honeymoon package, make sure that you advise them that you just got married. Most hotels will offer a room upgrade (if available), a special gift, and maybe a basket of fruit or bottle of sparkling wine.

Larger resorts, such as the Sandals and Couples Resorts, offer a variety of pre-packaged honeymoon vacations with an exhaustive list of special features.

The north coast of Jamaica is lush and green and home to a number of luxury resorts and villas, such as the venerable Jamaica Inn. The west coast is home to Negril and its magnificent seven-mile white sand beach and a casual and carefree lifestyle.

The south coast is home to Kingston and is Jamaica’s administrative, historic, and cultural capital. It’s also a good base for exploring the dense tropical forests on the slopes of the Blue Mountains. Couples looking for a vibrant, big-resort area with a lot of nightlife will enjoy spending their honeymoon in Montego Bay, on the northwest shore of Jamaica.

A Different Kind of Honeymoon

Although many couples enjoy relaxing on a beach or lounging in a well-appointed hotel room during their honeymoon, others are looking for a more active kind of trip. If that’s you, a Jamaica honeymoon has a lot to offer.

Consider a hiking and climbing trek through the lush Blue Mountains, staying at a luxury mountain inn with sweeping views of the shoreline far below.

Water-sports enthusiasts will also find a variety of activities. Try para-sailing high above the Montego Bay coast or windsurfing along the north shore.

History lovers will enjoy exploring the former British port and pirate haven of Port Royal, near Kingston. The area is also home to gracious colonial mansions and the Bob Marley Museum, located in the reggae artist’s former home and recording studio.

Putting Together a Jamaica Honeymoon

Planning a honeymoon can be tricky, especially with all of the wedding arrangements to be made. Consider enlisting the aid of a travel agent that specializes in honeymoon trips. Let her/him know if you prefer an active or a laid-back trip, how much you are looking to spend, and what amenities are important to you. Then, relax and let her sift through the many options.

Often, travel agents have access to, or know where to find, prices not available to the general public. A good agent can arrange airfare, hotels, sightseeing, car rentals and a variety of honeymoon extras. Sometimes agents, too, will add their own gift or discount for a honeymoon couple. It never hurts to ask.

A Wedding Registry

What if you don’t know how you are going to afford your Jamaica honeymoon? What if you have two households full of possessions and the idea of another toaster or coffee maker isn’t that appealing?

Consider a wedding registry.

Similar to a department store registry, these programs are offered by an increasing number of travel agencies, tour operators, and resorts. Essentially, your wedding guests, in lieu of a present, can make a contribution towards the cost of your honeymoon trip. You get a card identifying each gift giver as well as a total amount of all the contributions. That amount is then applied towards the invoice for your honeymoon package.

However you choose to spend your Jamaica honeymoon, you are sure to enjoy the island’s friendly people, lush tropical landscape, sunny weather, and variety of activities. Relax and let the uniquely Jamaica ambiance erase that wedding stress.
