Capital of Jamaica: Kingston.

If you are planning to visit the beautiful island of Jamaica or you simply want to know a little more about the land, it is a good idea to make sure that you take interest in the capital of Jamaica.



It just so happens that the largest city within all of Jamaica is also the capital. This city is Kingston and it sits on the southeaster coast of the country.

In addition, Kingston happens to be predominantly English speaking, which makes it easy for tourists to find their way around.

Two Parts

There are actually two parts that make up the capital of Jamaica central area. This would be the Downtown and the New Kingston.

Kingston is probably most famous for the reggae stars that came from the city. These stars include Sean Paul, Beenie Man, Bounty Killer and Buju Banton.

Within the capital of Jamaica, there are several attractions that tourists flock to time and time again. In fact, you will most likely find that there is more to do and see in Jamaica than you have time for. This simply means that you will have to come back for another vacation.

Overview of Kingston, Jamaica

Start with The National Gallery of Jamaica, Port Royal ruins, and the Devon House.

The Devon House is a very important location within the capital of Jamaica because it is where the first black millionaire from Jamaica lived. There are also many annual festivals that are held within Kingston which make for a wonderful time.

Demographics for Kingston

Even though most of the population is African in descent, there are also many other ethnic groups that find their home in the largest city in Jamaica.

You will find large groups of Hispanics, East Indians, and Chinese. There is also a minority in the city of Lebanese, Christian Syrians and people who are of a mixed ancestry.

Expected Climate

The capital of Jamaica has a nice topical climate with the main wet season between May and November. The main dry season then would be from December to April.

It would be wise to make sure that you are taking this into account before you jump a plane to Kingston, Jamaica. You certainly want to make sure that you are packing properly for the weather that you will be experiencing.

Travel Options

There are a few different travel options when you want to explore the capital of Jamaica. You can travel by car but the roads are often times jammed with an overload of cars, making travel something that can be frustrating.

If you are looking for an airport, the Norman Manley International Airport is what you want for international travel. For domestic services, you can check out the Tinson Pen Aerodrome.

When you are traveling to the capital of Jamaica, make sure that you are planning ahead and taking in as many sights as possible.

You will be sure to have an incredible vacation and you will most likely find yourself wanting to return time and time again.
